10 Interior Instagrams you should be following

British online newspaper The Independent recently published an article about Instagram and what makes it such a great tool for influencers. But it’s just as beneficial for those of us seeking inspiration. Being so visual, interiors and home décor make great Instagram fodder. With that said, here are some Kiwi instagrammers sharing their interior tastes and journeys with the world that you might find useful for bringing new ideas into your own home.

@miloandmitzy

Milo and Mitzy is an online design and lifestyle magazine seeking out the latest inspiring design and décor trends. On the blog you’ll find articles on interiors, homewares, art, home tours, fashion and food. The Instagram feed features a mix of inspiration from elsewhere along with her own home interior shots and flat lays of products, colours and patterns. We love how often natural elements like fresh and dried flowers make it into the Milo and Mitzy feed.

‘I’ve been lucky enough to receive the latest Black Truffle range of kitchen equipment from @brevilleaus, including the Soft Top Luxe Kettle and Toast Select Luxe. They are so nice to use! The kettle is quick and quiet and the toaster features six settings to toast anything from rye to crumpets. And the matt black finish looks perfect in my kitchen. #gifted

@studiohome

You’ll find a lot of inspiration here. Not only does Studio Home’s Ju Atkinson get stuck into and share her own furniture upcycling and home décor DIY projects, she travels both NZ and Aus a lot so there’s always great inspiration from others too. Sometimes it’s a whole room, sometimes just a design element like a piece of art or furniture.

My bed looks a ton messier than this .... cos I’m still in it xxoo Happy Easter ya’ll - we’re making it a staycation. 💙🏡 #thebluehousenz 🔹 @duluxnz #duluxpukaki @porterspaints #porterspaintschalkemulsion 🔹 #ezibuyhome #fatherrabbit #pocketofmyhome #nzdesign #newzealanddesign #nzhomes #newzealandhomes #realhomes #nzhomeswithstyle #stuffhomed #christchurchnz

@cooperinteriors

White. Black. Grey. If keeping it monochromatic and minimal is your style, follow these guys. Cooper Interiors share a mixture of images from other Instagram feeds that resonate with their own style, as well as New Zealand’s best interior design services and products. Polished and elegant, a lot of what you see on the Instagram feed links back to the blog so they’re a great source of info and along with that inspo.

@loveandgingerhome

Katrina and Guy built and decorated their house from the ground up. That journey might be over but now they’re taking those skills and helping out their parents do the same thing. This Instagram feed is a really nice balance of family and interior design.

Cleaned my kitchen just so I could take this photo of the winter sun finally showing its face and streaming into my kitchen. Oh and we also bought My Food Bag for the first time after talking about it forever. And I’m sooooo excited to pretend I’m on Masterchef tonight.

@eviekemp and @thepinkroomnz

So far all these Insta feeds lean towards pretty mild colours. Not Evie! Evie describes herself as an “artist and chimerical creative, applying colour and pattern to anything and everything.” Add a massive splash of bold, bright, vibrant colour and retro decorating vibes to your Instagram feed.

Evie also teams up with pal Michelle to bring us The Pink Room. Here they curate images from other Instagram feeds to share with likeminded individuals seeking inspiration for unique and fearless homes.

The height of stylish nonchalance, neutrals are having a major moment. Team beige with white, cream and oatmeal, and always keep form in mind for a look that exudes low-key luxury. Texture is also a must, for both interest and to create a space that takes comfort seriously. Link in bio to shop the look 〰️ Styling: @juliettewanty Photo: @whfenwick #homestylemood #interiorstyle

@hallweneed

This feed follows a young couple renovating their first home….with a twist! Jess & Warren are converting a historic hall located in central Auckland, into the home of their dreams! Their vision is to preserve the 110-year-old building and it’s heritage as they convert it into a home fit for a family. This is a great example of a young couple with little renovation skills and a limited budget making things work by being resourceful and determined.

Patience, patience and more patience 👈🏼 that’s a brief summary of what has been needed to get to the stage we’re in now. It has been over 4 years since we started looking for a property to buy and 2 years since we moved into the hall. The thing is, even once you move into that dream home, launch that business or start that project, chances are you will still have a long way to go — I know we do. But the journey is epic so rather than rush onto the next stage (in our case, big renovations!) we’re stopping to smell the proverbial roses and enjoying the process...the saving, scheming, dreaming, plotting and planning. Trusting that the end result is only half the fun 🙏🏼
